Sang Kwon Park

I had the privilege of interviewing Sang Kwon Park, the head of the KBC, the Vice President of the WBC and the Chair of the WBC Female Championship Committee. Sports have always been one way to bridge the political differences in our world. This is a worthy part of Mr. Park’s vision.

Jill: What first brought you to boxing?

Mr. Park: First, I'm glad of interviewing with you, Jill Diamond. Although I enjoyed watching the sport, I didn’t become directly involved with the boxing community until I was nominated as the president of the Korea Boxing Commission (KBC).

I have the motivation to enhance the peace and the interaction between the two Koreas through the great sport of Boxing.

Jill: What was your first experience with the boxing?

Mr. Park: Before becoming the president of the KBC, my first boxing related experience was holding boxing events between South Korean and Jochongryeon (the pro-North Korean resident’s league in Japan) in South Korea.
