David Diaz Spearheads Huge 'Destiny' Show Fri. as He Vies for Lightweight Title Honors!

CICERO, Ill. - Dominic Pesoli’s 8 Count Productions has finalized an outstanding seven bout card for “DESTINY”, another installment of world class professional boxing on Friday June 16th at Cicero Stadium.

Headlining the evening is an outstanding matchup between Chicagoland’s most popular boxer, 1996 US Olympian David Diaz, 30-1-1 (16), and Efren Hinojosa, 29-2-1 (17) of Lakeside, California in a twelve round bout for the IBA Lightweight World Championship.

Said Dominic Pesoli, “This is a huge show for our fans. They were thrilled to see David in March at the Aragon when he beat Silverio Ortiz and he’s fighting for the world title against Hinojosa who’s a very tough kid. It’s a terrific match between guys with very similar records, a true crossroads fight.”

“Our lightweight prospect Mike Gonzalez has won his first six fights by knockout and we’re proud to put him in the co-main for the boxing world to see.”

“The card has 49 scheduled rounds over seven fights. A couple of months ago Barbaro Zepeda and Miguel Angel Figueroa put on a terrific six round war which we just put up on our 8 Count TV portion of our website. This six rounder rematch should be a continuation of that.”

Donovan George has always been a favorite amongst our fans and we’re very happy to have him back. Francisco Diaz is a very skilled super middleweight from Kansas that is making his 8 Count debut.”

“Our fans have told us they want to see quality matchups and our matchmaker Jerry Alfano along with our partners at Top Rank have done a great job with this event.”

“DESTINY” is presented by 8 Count Productions and Bob Arum’s Top Rank Incorporated, along with Miller Lite and TCF Bank. SOLO BOXEO DE MILLER, the highly regarded Friday night series will broadcast the event internationally.

Cicero Stadium is located at 1909 S. Laramie, just minutes from the Eisenhower and Stevenson Expressways. Doors for this event will open at 6pm with the first bell at 7pm. Tickets, starting at $30 are on sale in advance by calling 312-226-5800.

The full fight card is as follows:

IBA Lightweight World Championship

Mike Gonzalez vs. Jeff Hinds, 8 rounds, lightweights

Francisco Diaz vs. Moises Martinez, 6 rounds, middleweights
