Some late evening waders enjoy splashing by one of two lit up monoliths at Chicago's Millenium Park on Michigan Avenue just north of the Art Institute of Chicago. Each monolith had projected images of faces on their interior walls, cascaded waters down their sides and projected streams of waters from the mouths of certain facial images periodically (see next photo).
CHICAGO - Now, you may ask what do bathers in downtown Chicago have to do with boxing? The answer, quite frankly, is nothing and everything. In both cases, people are enjoying first class entertainment at its simplest levels in the Windy City.
Wading in public facilities is a timeless and simple summer pasttime enjoyed by millions throughout the ages. With Chicago's wondrous Millenium Park installation, people get to enjoy this activity with an eye-popping twist of modernity thrown in.
Boxing is essentially sport stripped down to its basic essence: competition in which one individual tries to impose his will on the other in a pitched struggle in order to win.
In both cases, it is entertainment at its most sublime.
And in the summertime? Fugetaboutit! There's something about Chicago that truly captures the essence of the magic of summertime that defies description. 'Nuff said?
