REGGIE DAVIS HEADLINES TACOMA CARD Junior middleweight one of four Portland-based boxers set to fight LocalNewsDaily.com By Steve Brandon
Portland boxer Reggie Davis will get back in the ring Saturday at Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Wash.
Davis (15-3-0, seven knockouts) will face Dewey Welliver (16-16-1, five KOs) in the 10-round, junior middleweight (154 pounds) main event that is part of the Battle of the Boat series. This is the 49th card in the series.
Davis, 30, won his last bout by unanimous decision on Feb. 11 over Horatio Garcia.
Welliver, 24, is from Snoqualmie, Wash. In his last outing, he lost by unanimous decision to Jesus Gonzalez (16-0-0) on May 28, 2005.
Another bout on Saturday’s card matches super lightweights Jason Davis (3-0-0) of Vancouver, Wash., and Braulio Lopez (1-4-1) of Molalla in a four-rounder
And Vancouver’s Robert “Bo” Marthaller (4-2-1) is scheduled to fight Rodolzo Lopez (2-4-1) of Denver in a six-round light heavyweight battle.
Reggie and Jason Davis, who aren’t related, and Marthaller train at the Knott Street Boxing Club in Portland. Braulio is out of the West Portland Boxing Club.
Tickets are $75, $40 and $20 from TicketMaster or the casino.
