Headlining CHICAGO SUPERSTARS is Chicago featherweight prospect Jose Hernandez, 20-3 (13KO) who will battle be featured in the main event against Philadelphia’s Lenny DeVictoria, 8-4 (2KO’s). Earlier this year Hernandez and Antonio Escalante battled in a ten round war broadcast internationally on SOLO BOXEO De Miller and considered by many members of the boxing press to be a Fight of the Year candidate. Hernandez won a unanimous decision over Anthony Martinez on May 20, 2006 at the Aragon.
DeVictoria is coming off a SHOBOX televised battle with hot undefeated prospect Mario Santiago on June 2nd at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, California. Prior to that fight, DeVictoria had won five of his last six bouts. Said Pesoli, “Jose’s very popular with Chicagoland fight fans particularly after his war with Escalante. He’s been at JABB training for the last few weeks and is in great shape.
“DeVictoria is a typical, very tough kid from Philadelphia. He’s coming here looking to get back on the winning track against Jose and this should be an excellent fight.” The co-main event is an outstanding Chicagoland showdown bout between two of the city’s most popular fighters Francisco Rodriguez, 7-1 (5KO’s) and Omar Reyes, 3-3, in an eight round bantamweight bout. A special attraction six round heavyweight bout will feature Oak Lawn, Illinois native Mike Mollo, 15-1 (9KO’s). The undercard will include bouts featuring Chicago KO artist, welterweight Luciano “EL Gallo Michicano” Perez, 13-4-1 (12KO’s), Dallas, TX native, welterweight Francisco Rincon, 11-3 (6KO’s), WIBA Americas Lightweight Titleholder Rita Figueroa, 8-0 (3KO’s) and crowd favorite Barbaro Zepeda, 6-6-1 (1KO) in separate bouts.
