KLINEFELTER CROWNED U.S. CHAMP

Kansas City, MO - Today Iowa City native and University of Iowa sophomore Katy Klinefelter won the first ever U.S. Under 19 National Championships for women, defeating Texas' Celina Salazar 16-8 in the 125 pound division final.
This is Katy's fourth career national title.

The first ever women’s Under 19 National Champion was crowned after a featherweight match-up between Katy Klinefelter (Iowa City, Iowa) and Celina Salazar (Texas). The more experienced Klinefelter grabbed an early, slim lead and enjoyed a 7-4 advantage after two rounds. She continued to pad her lead through final two rounds en route to a 16-8 victory and the first ever women’s Under 19 title.
