MERRILLVILLE, IN.- Octavius James/One In A Million Inc. in association with 8 Count Productions today officially announced two of the nation's hottest undefeated women fighters, Gary, Indiana's "Merciless" Mary McGee Vs. Chicago's Rita "La Guerra" Figueroa, will put their perfect records on the line in the Main Event showdown on the "Night Of Champions," card Friday, November 17th, 2006 at the Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza in Merrillville, Indiana.
McGee (7-0, 4 KO's) and Figueroa (9-0, 3 KO's) will battle for more than just the IN.B.A. Women's Super Lightweight Championship, said James, CEO of One In A Million Inc. "This Main Event is hot because it's about more than a title," he said. "It's about pride, reputation and bragging rights in the world of women's boxing, which has made huge strides in recent years."
Tickets for "Night of Champions" are on sale now, starting at $25. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the first bout will be at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the Star Plaza Box Office (219-769-6600) or through any Ticket Master (312-559-1212) or www.TicketMaster.com
These women warriors faced each other once before, in the amateur ranks, but there is far more at stake now, as McGee's and Figueroa's futures could skyrocket or slow down significantly, depending on the outcome.
"Champions" will be packed with championship level action, as Jimmy "The Fighting Schoolteacher" Holmes (14-0-1, 7 KO's) looks to defend his Indiana State Middleweight title, and Highland Cruiserweight Michael "Quiet Assassin" Parker (4-0, 4 KO's) tries to lengthen his string of knock-out victories in a talent rich division.
In a Special Attraction, Johnny "Kid One In A Million" Novak (19-1, 6 KO's) continues his march through the Light Welterweight division, calling out well known, championship level fighters like Pittsburgh's own Paul Spadafora (38-0-1, 15 KO's), a former IBF title holder.
"Night of Champions" will be the latest installment in a series of professional boxing shows that has taken pro sports in the Midwest to another level, James said.
"There's no doubt this show has something for everyone, and these fighters are out to make bigger names for themselves," he said. "That means they have to bring their A-Games and put on the best possible show for the fans and the boxing community."
