Providence-native Estrada (7-0, 1 KO), 25, hasn't lost a single round in his 39 as a pro, including a 10-round "shutout" performance May 18 against veteran Robert Wiggins (20-6-1). Walker (21-0-1, 17 KOs), 2003 National Golden Gloves champion as a super heavyweight, and Estrada fought three times as amateurs with "Big Six" sweeping their competition at the 2000 National PAL Championships, 2001 Everlast-US Challenge and 15-4 in the US Olympic Trials.
"Travis is a good fighter," Estrada said before departing. "It's a big step up for me because he's 21-0-1 with 17 knockouts. But I beat him three times in the amateurs; beat him good. Being on Showtime is the most motivating thing of my career. I've had a lot of fights all over the world, but this fight is different because it's on Showtime. Travis is saying he's going to destroy me and that's motivated me even more. I'm going to whip his ass. I'm in the best shape of my career. He's going down."
Estrada was one of the most celebrated amateur boxers in U.S. history, registering a remarkable 261-14 record in the United States, including an unprecedented three consecutive triumphs in the U.S. Nationals and U.S. Challenge (2001-2003). He captured a gold medal at the 2003 Pan-American Games and represented the U.S. in the 2004 Olympics.
