Championship vs. Mary McGee in Merrillville!" Rita Figueroa Ready for Friday's Ind. Championship vs. Mary McGee in Merrillville!
Chicago's Rita Figueroa with Rocky Martinez at Windy City Gym in Chicago MERRILLVILLE, Ind. -- In a few hours, Chicago female boxer Rita Figueroa will put it all on the line to slug it out with an old advesary she last faced--and beat--in the amateurs: Mary McGee. Taking a few minutes away from her busy schedule, Figueroa emailed the following: "Here are some pics from training. All there's left to do now is fight. I think it's going to be a great fight."
Figueroa continued, "I know I have trained very hard, and sparred with some tough, tough guys at Windy, so I am ready to go. I am sure she has trained hard as well, so the fans are going to be in for a great fight." Known as Rita "La Guerra" Figueroa (9-0, 3 KO's), she will take on "Merciless" Mary McGee (7-0, 4 KO's) of Gary, Indiana for the IN.B.A. Super Lightweight Championship at the Radisson at the Star Plaza in Merrillville. Indiana State Middleweight Champion Jimmy "The Fighting Schoolteacher" Holmes (14-0-1, 7 KO's) faces the far more experienced Canadian Brooke Wellby (33-16-3, 11 KO's) in the Co-Main event. "This is yet another one of those nights when we have something for everyone, including making history with the McGee-Figueroa fight," said Octavius James, CEO of One In A Million Inc.
