CICERO, Ill. -- World class professional boxing will return to Cicero Stadium on Friday, December 22nd as super lightweight contender Jose Miguel Cotto, brother of world champion Miguel Cotto, will face Miguel Angel Huerta in the ten round main event of CHRISTMAS BRAWL, it was announced today by Dominic Pesoli, President of 8 Count.

CHRISTMAS BRAWL is presented by 8 Count Productions along with Bob Arum's Top Rank Incorporated and Miller Lite and TCF Bank.

Cicero Stadium is located at 1909 S. Laramie, just minutes from the Eisenhower and Stevenson Expressways. Doors for this event will open at 5:30pm with the first bell at 6:30pm. Tickets, starting at $30, are on sale in advance by calling 312-226-5800.

Said Pesoli, "We've had a great year and we thought it was a great opportunity for our fans to have another event at Christmas time. This year we've had our biggest crowds and we're very thankful for their continued support."

Cotto, 28-1 (20KO's), of Caguas, Puerto Rico is coming off a 10th TKO of Ivan Hernandez on August 4, 2006 at Coliseo Pedrin Zorrilla in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico. Earlier this year he challenged lightweight world champion Juan Diaz, losing a hard fought 12 round decision.

This is the third appearance of Cotto's on an 8 Count Productions' promoted event. On August 20, 2000 he won a decision over Fernando Velardez at the Casino Queen in East Saint Louis , IL . On June 3, 2001, he stopped Steve Trumble by fourth round TKO at the Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin, Illinois.

Huerta, 22-8-1 (15KO's) of Mexico City, Mexico, has wins in his career over highly regarded fighters including Jesus Soto Karass, Martin Honorio, Allan Vester, and Rolando Reyes.

This is the second appearance of Huerta in the Chicagoland area having battled Victoriano Sosa on October 10, 2003 in an ESPN televised bout from Gary, Indiana.

In the co-main event undefeated lightweight prospect Brandon Rios, 13-0 (8KO's) will battle in an eight rounder. The 20 year old Rios of Oxnard, California is trained by former world champion Roberto Garcia.

The huge undercard features the return of Chicagoland fan favorites junior middleweight Jorge Gonzalez, bantamweight Francisco Rodriguez, junior middleweight Rudy Cisneros and middleweight Louis Turner who will be featured in separate bouts.

Also on the undercard welterweight Gustavo Palacios will be making his pro debut.

The Master of Ceremonies for this event will be the internationally recognized voice of Latino boxing, Lupe Contreras.

The weigh in for this event will be held on Thursday, December 21st, at 7pm at Club Aquarius, 2459 N. Pulaski on the northwest side of Chicago .
