CES signs Mical Weisberg

PROVIDENCE (December 7, 2006) - Classic Entertainment & Sports, Inc. (CES) has signed light heavyweight Mical Weisberg, of Stoughton (MA), to an exclusive promotional contract, CES president Jimmy Burchfield announced today. Weisberg, 22, is scheduled to turn pro on CES' card in February. He is a senior at Bridgewater State College, majoring in physical education. Mical has been boxing since he was 14 and was 7-1 (2 KOs) as an amateur, capturing top honors at the 2003 Rocky Marciano Tournament and 2004 Southern New England Golden Gloves Tournament.

"I've been looking at Mical for a while," CES president Jimmy Burchfield said. "He reminds me a little of a smaller Maxie Baer. With our aggressive schedule about to be announced for 2007, he was one of our top choices and we're very happy to have another fighter from southeastern Massachusetts. His manager/advisor, Bud Lakin, is a good guy who I've known and respected for a long time. "At CES, we care as much about what a fighter does outside the ring as in the ring fighting. Boxing today is a business of entertainment and marketability and Mical Weisberg is all about that." Weisberg has gained invaluable experience sparring with some of New England's top pros the past few years. "I signed with CES because Bud felt that it was the best promotional company around to handle my pro boxing career," Mical remarked. "He has a lot of respect for Mr. Burchfield and everybody at CES. "I'm very, very happy to have signed with CES, especially after seeing the type show it puts on. I went to the Providence show (Dec. 1) and saw great fights with great fighters before a packed house. I was so impressed. I have some big shoes to step into as a member of Team CES. I'm going to take one fight at a time and see where my skills take me in boxing. I'm very happy to be part of CES."

CES' growing stable includes No. 7 world rated cruiserweight contender Matt "Too Smooth" Godfrey (14-0, 8 KOs), USNBC & IBF Intercontinental super middleweight title-holder Joey "KO Kid" Spina (19-1-1, 14 KOs), 2004 U.S. Olympian and heavyweight prospect Jason "Big Six" Estrada (7-1, 1KO), world-rated welterweight Ossie Duran (21-5-1, 9 KOs), WBC Youth super featherweight champion Matt "Sharp Shooter" Remillard (11-0, 7 KOs), IWBF lightweight & featherweight champion Missy "The Fury" Fiorentino (14-1, 6 KOs), and two-time world champion Jaime "The Hurricane" Clampitt (16-4-1, 7 KOs).
