Motown goes "Hollywood" Rubin Williams-Antwun Echols headlines
'Fight Night At The Palace' for the IBA World

LAS VEGAS (December 8, 2006) - World-class super middleweight contender Rubin "Hollywood" Williams returns home on January 12 to fight veteran bomber Antwun "Kid Dynamite" Echols for the vacant IBA super middleweight title, headlining "Fight Night at The Palace" in the 12-round main event, at The Palace in Palace Hills, Michigan.
"Fight Night at The Palace" is co-promoted by Silverhawk Championship Boxing and Fight Night, Inc., in association with Banner Promotions.
"We worked hard with Bill Kozerski (Fight Night, Inc.) and Art Pelullo (Banner Promotions) to bring such a high level fight like this to Michigan," Silverhawk Championship vice president Jeff Grmoja explained. "I want to thank Bill and Art. I think this fight will certainly define Rubin and Antwun for the rest of their boxing careers. We really wanted to bring a great fight like this close to where Rubin grew up. I hope all of the local fans will support him and fill the 17,000-seat arena. Williams has always fought to his opponent's level and Echols, I'm sure, will bring the best out of Rubin."
Former IBF title challenger Williams (29-2, 16 KOs), reigning NBA super middleweight champion, is rated No. 26 by the World Boxing Council. He has beaten, among the more notables, Tony Menefee (76-16-1), Anthony Stephens (32-15-2), Aaron Norwood (21-4-2), Anton Robinson (26-8-1), Richard Grant (19-12-1), Floyd Williams (30-12-1) and Max Heyman (21-8-4) in his last fight on August 4.
"I feel great about going home to the Detroit area to fight," Williams said. "I miss all of my fans back there and look forward to seeing them again at my fight. Echols is a very solid, strong puncher with experience. I hope that this fight will position me for another world title fight; that's why I'm fighting an opponent as tough as Echols. I'm looking to kick his ass."
Echols (31-6-2, 27 KOs) is a former NABF, NABA, and USBA super middleweight champion. "Kid Dynamite" has defeated former world champion Charles "The Hatchet" Brewer (36-7), world title challengers Ross "The Boss" Thompson (26-8-2), Kabary "Egyptian Magician" Salem (16-1), and Brian "The Bull" Barbosa (23-3). Echols has also fought Bernard Hopkins twice for the IBF crown, extending him 12 rounds in their first meeting.
