Euro-Beat Update: Carrera Tests Positive for Illegal Substance & More!

ARGENTINIAN middle Mariano Carrera, who stopped Javier Castillejo in eleven last December in Berlin to win the WBA title, has according to German and Spanish media reports tested positive for an illegal substance. Thereīs no official announcment from the WBA yet. More to come ...

The planned voluntary defence by EBU 160 lb titleholder Amin Asikainen in Helsinki that was scheduled for February 10 will be moved to a different date. Asikainenīs opponent will however reportedly be Italian Lorenzo Di Giacomo. "Idi" Amin is still to take on mandatory challenger Sebastian Sylvester March 3 in Rostock. The Helsinki show will have jr welter Juho Tolppola in the co-headliner. A full announcement from P 3 Boxing is come next week.

Luca Tassi defends the Italian supermiddleweight title February 15 against Vincenzo Imparato. In the co-headliner Italian lightheavy champ Leonard Turchi squares off against veteran Massimiliano Saiani. Rosanna Conti Cavini promotes.

It appears that Spend Abazi vs Roberto Guerrero for the vacant IBF featherweight title will go ahead in Denmark in February.

WBA heavy champ Nikolai Valuev is sparring in Berlin with among others Cisse Salif.

Norman Schuster defends the German welterweight title against Mike Reissmann on Universumīs show in Halle/Saale January 13. Reissmann has lately figured in the court case against his former trainer, Werner Papke, who is accused of sexual abuse of some his fighters, Reissmann included.
