Exciting lightweight prospect Mike Gonzalez will be featured in 8 Count's January 26th fightcard

CHICAGO, January 7, 2007 -- 8 Count Productions is preparing for another outstanding year of presenting world class professional boxing for Chicagoland fight fans.

Said Dominic Pesoli, President of 8 Count, "Last year we promoted 18 events and we're looking at a similar number this year. We had a terrific 2006 with some outstanding battles in front of huge crowds. Chicago fight fans have been very loyal to us with their enthusiastic support and we've repaid them by consistently providing high quality events. That's our continued commitment to them in 2007."

Speaking about the upcoming 8 Count events, Pesoli said, "On Friday, January 26th, we're back at Cicero Stadium with Antonio Escalante in the main event. He's at the top of the list of many national boxing writers as one of the hottest prospects in boxing. Last January Jose Hernandez and Escalante had a ten round war which SOLO BOXEO voted as the 'Fight of the Year.' Since then Escalante has only gotten more popular with his huge wins on SOLO BOXEO and HBO PPV.

"We've also got our undefeated lightweight prospect Mike Gonzalez on the card along with newcomers Jonas Hernandez, Oscar De La Cruz, Gustavo Palacios and female Brooke Dierdorff in separate bouts."

On February 16th, 8 Count will return to Cicero Stadium with fast rising flyweight superstar Giovanni Segura in the main event and undefeated light heavyweight prospect Tavoris Cloud returning to the ring.

Said Pesoli, "I've seen Segura a few times on TV and he looks like a future champion. He has a very aggressive style that our fans will love. Also, this year will be huge for Tavoris Cloud. He's created a great buzz with his off-TV fights and we're looking to show the world what the fans in Chicago already know about him.

"We've also got a terrific undercard for that event with fan favorites Ivan Rodriguez, Achour Esho and Jose Manuel Ortega appearing on the card. We also just added heavyweight Carl Davis to the card."

In March and April 2007, 8 Count Productions will serve as the lead sponsor for the Chicago Golden Gloves. Said Pesoli, "We're very happy to again lend our support to the Chicago Golden Gloves. Their long history of being a national leader in amateur boxing speaks for itself. Many of the fighters on our events participated in the Chicago Golden Gloves during their amateur careers."

Cicero Stadium is located at 1909 S. Laramie, just minutes from the Eisenhower and Stevenson Expressways. Doors for both events will open at 5:30pm with the first bell at 6:30pm. Tickets for both events, starting at $30, are on sale in advance by calling 312-226-5800.

8 Count Productions was started by Dominic Pesoli in 1997 and has consistently presented the highest quality professional boxing events in Chicagoland. In 2003, Pesoli along with former featherweight contender Mike Garcia opened JABB Boxing Gym, a 6,000 square foot venue dedicated to the finest Chicagoland boxers of all talent levels.
