‘Prison Ministry’ Founder Chuck Colson gives ‘Rocky Balboa’ Thumbs Up!

DRIVING down icy roads in northern Illinois, my heart warmed as I heard Chuck Colson on the radio talking up a movie I recently enjoyed, Rocky Balboa.

This was the chief counsel in President Nixon’s administration who was brought down and sent to prison by Watergate, serving seven months in Alabama's Maxwell Prison. Following a spiritual conversion, he founded “Prison Ministries” in 1976, wrote 20 books, and won the Templeton Prize for Progress in Religion in 1993. A stalwart proponent for social justice and a cerebral approach to faith, of all things, he spoke about Sylvester Stallone’s latest remake of Rocky. Yes, that Rocky, the muscled up pop culture figure of a bygone era.

And, ‘yo, Adrienne!’ He was singing its praises!
