U.S. Olympian Jason Estrada
Searching for his next opponent
PROVIDENCE, RI (February 21, 2007) - 2004 U.S. Olympian Jason "Big Six" Estrada, on a search for his next opponent, responded to rumors that Tony Grano (6-0-1, 6 KOs) has been calling him out. "I've had three different people tell me that Grano has been shooting his mouth off about challenging me," Estrada said. "He didn't even want to spar with me but if really wants a fight, let him step up to the plate and call my promoter, Jimmy Burchfield. We're looking for an opponent for April 6 and the fights probably going to be in his home state, Connecticut. I'm from Rhode Island and this match up would be good for New England boxing. It's probably going to be my last six-round bout, so Grano has his chance if he gets past Tyrone Smith on Friday night. When is he going to fight somebody who hasn't been handpicked for him to easily beat? Hey, any heavyweight interested in fighting me should call Classic Entertainment & Sports, Inc. (401.724.2253)."

Estrada was one of the most celebrated amateur boxers in U.S. history, registering a remarkable 261-14 record in the United States, including an unprecedented three consecutive triumphs in the U.S. Nationals and U.S. Challenge (2001-2003). He captured a gold medal at the 2003 Pan-American Games and represented the U.S. in the 2004 Olympics.
