Rita Figueroa

MERRILLVILLE, Ind., March 16, 2007 -- Hold the press! Octavius James, CEO of One In A Million Inc., has announced that Chicago's undefeated Rita "La Guera" Figueroa (9-0, 3 KOs) will face Mia "The Knock Out" Rosales- St. John (43-8-2, 18 KOs) in the main event of his "Fist of Fury" event on April 20th at Star Plaza Theatre in Merrillville.

"This is a great opportunity for me to be fighting Mia- she's done a lot for womens boxing," Figueroa said. "But I am not going in there to be an opponent. I am coming to win. I respect her as a fighter and person, but when we get in the ring, it's gonna be a fight."

Figueroa's last fight was on November 17th against One In A Million's undefeated lightweight phenom, 20-year-old "Merciless" Mary McGee (8-0, 4 KOs). "That fight was tremendous," Octavius James said. "The fans sold out that show well in advance and the fight lived up to the hype. It was the best women's fight that I've ever seen."

Unfortunately, the bout ended in a 4th round no contest due to a clash of heads which left Figueroa cut, bleeding and in need of stitches.

Figueroa's nickname' "La Guera" translates to "white girl."

"At first, I thought they were calling me 'La Guerra,' which means 'war,'" Figueroa explained. "But then my Latin boxing friends told me that I'm the toughest 'white girl' fighter that they've ever seen and that I 'fight like a Mexican,' so 'La Guera' is a great compliment."

Figueroa is a former 4-time Chicago Golden Gloves Champion. Both she and Mia have black belts in the martial arts.
