8 Count Continues Busy Month of Boxing This Friday in Cicero!

CONTINUING with their busy month of April featuring three world class professional boxing events, Chicago ’s 8 Count Productions has finalized this Friday night’s RESURRECTION card set for Cicero Stadium.

8 Count Productions is presenting back to back events at Cicero Stadium on consecutive Fridays, April 13th and 20th. Tickets for both events can be purchased in advance by calling 312-226-5800.

RESURRECTION, is presented by 8 Count Productions, along with Bob Arum’s Top Rank Incorporated, TCF Bank and TECATE Beer.

Cicero Stadium is located at 1909 S. Laramie, just minutes from the Eisenhower and Stevenson Expressways. Doors for this event will open at 5:30pm with the first bell at 6:30pm.

The main event of RESURRECTION features a twelve round rematch between veteran lightweight warriors Cristobal Cruz and Francisco Lorenzo. Cruz and Lorenzo fought an eight round battle on December 1, 2006 at Cicero Stadium which ended with a hard fought decision for Lorenzo.

Cruz, 34-9-1 (22KO’s), from Tijuana , Mexico, is coming off a twelve round decision over Jose Reyes on December 8, 2006.

Lorenzo, 27-4 (14KO’s) a native the Dominican Republic, is coming off a twelve round SOLO BOXEO televised battle with Roman Martinez on February 2, 2007 in San Juan, Puerto Rico which resulted in a hotly disputed split decision loss.

The co-main event features an eight round light battle between lightweight prospects Carlos Vinan and Carlos Madrid.

Ecuadorian Vinan, 7-3-1 (1KO), now fighting out of Newark , New Jersey was awarded a technical draw in his last bout with Lonnie Smith on February 2, 2007 at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez , California . In the third round Vinan was cut deeply from an inadvertent head butt from Smith and the fight was stopped by the ringside physician.

Madrid , 8-2-1 (2KO’s), fighting out of El Paso , Texas returns to Cicero Stadium following his eight round war with undefeated prospect Mike Gonzalez on January 26, 2007.

Cristobal Cruz vs. Francisco Lorenzo, twelve rounds, super featherweights

Carlos Vinan vs. Carlos Madrid, eight rounds, lightweights

Donovan George vs. Alberto Mercedes, six rounds, super middleweights

Rudy Cisneros vs. Leshon Sims, six rounds, junior middleweights

Ivan Popoca vs. Gustavo Palacios, four rounds, welterweights

Andrzej Fonfara vs. Justin Danforth, four rounds, welterweights

The weigh-in for this event will take place on Thursday, April 12th at 7pm at Club Aquarius at 2459 N. Pulaski on the northwest side of Chicago .

The Master of Ceremonies for this event will be the internationally recognized voice of Latino boxing, Lupe Contreras.
