April 7, Hamburg, Germany:
Jr middle Lukas Konecny stopped tough Frenchman Serge Vigne in seven of a scheduled non-title ten rounder that headlined SESī show at the Universum gym. Vigne was down twice in the fifth and again in the seventh before it was stopped at the fourth knockdown but the Frenchman had his moments, especially in the second when he scored with wide hooks from both hands. Lukas was cut above the right eye. There has been some rumors that Konecny will be the opponent for WBO champ Sergey Dzinziruk May 19 but the plan is apparently for Lukas to challenge EBU ruler Michele Piccirillo in what also will be a WBO eliminator and then go for Dzinziruk.
Marco Schulze didnīt disappoint his legion of fans and outworked Pole Marcin Piatkowski for a unanimous decision over eight in a fight made at middleweight. Heavyweight Gbenga Oloukun knocked out normally dangerous Russian Alexei Varakin in the fourth. Varakin didnīt show anything.
Supermiddle Gusmyl Perdomo outscored Czech Michal Bilak over ten in a good fight with Perdomo in control most of the way.
Welter Charlie Jose Navarro won a controversial split decision over Latvian Jurijs Boreiko after eight hardfought rounds. Navarro was in control early but Boreiko came on strong and had the Venezuelan in trouble. Going into the last it was even but then Navarro floored Boreiko and had him out on his feet at the bell. The Latvian corner made an official protest right on the spot about the scoring of the fight.
Featherweight Nehormar Cermeno won a majority decision over Russian Andrei Kostin in another eight rounder.
