MERRILLVILLE, Ind. - Just several hours away from her home of Elgin, Illinois, a city in the outlying western suburbs of Chicago, Brooke Dierdorff will face the biggest opportunity and challenge of her young boxing career this Friday night.

At 3-0 with 3 knockouts, she's facing female boxing superstar Mia Rosales-St. John, who at 48-3-2 with 18 knockouts, should be the prohibitive favorite.

Still, with a hundred percent knockout-to-wins ratio, Diersdorff has the proverbial puncher's chance and, with Mia's proclivity to brawl, it should prove to be a firefight, however long it lasts.

Bottom line, it's "win-win" for Diersdorff, win or lose. If she wins, she'll have beaten an icon of sorts and could arguably be cast into the limelight on the tails of Rosales-St. John's success. And if she loses, she'll have lost to someone with vastly superior experience.

On the other hand, as beautiful and youthful as Rosales-St. John is, she's 39 years old to Diersdorff's 25. Let's not forget that in 1978, a young Leon Spinks in his eighth professional fight, upset aging all-time great Muhammad Ali, taking his WBC and WBA Heavyweight Title in the process.

Sure, Diersdorff is no Leon Spinks, who after all was an Olympian Gold Medal winner in the famous 1976 U.S. Olympic Boxing Team. However, Rosales-St. John isn't exactly Muhammad Ali, either.

Look for an entertaining slugfest when Diersdorff and Rosales-St. John face off at the Star Plaza Theatre in Merrillville, Indiana.
