Legendary Roberto Duran Will Meet The Press Sunday To Discuss May 2 Pro-Boxing Show In Miami The Legendary 5-time world champion and 2007 Boxing Hall of Fame inductee to meet the press Sunday to discuss May 2 Miami pro boxing show at Mahi Temple. Roberto Duran of DRL Promotions will meet with the media at 2 pm Sunday at the Grove Isle Hotel in Coconut Grove to discuss his May 2 boxing promotion at the Mahi Temple. Duran, with longtime partner Luis DeCubas of DRL Promotions, along with Marcos Socorro’s Florida Boxing Promotions, features former jr. middleweight champion Luis Ramon “Yory Boy” Campas meeting Miami’s Eromosele Albert in the 10-round main event, with the co-feature tabbing heavyweights Fres Oquendo of Puerto Rico and Damien Norris of Cuba fighting for the WBC Latin Heavyweight Title. “I am very happy to bring this show to Miami, my home away from home,” says Duran, who lives in Panama City, but often spent time in Miami training for his U.S. fights. “I fought in the Mahi Temple in 1996 and it’s a great place for boxing. I plan on bringing the best Latin talent to Miami and this show will be a great start,” says Duran. Duran will not only be celebrating a homecoming in returning to Miami, but he will also be feted for his induction this June into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Duran, retired for five years, was a unanimous first-vote inductee to 2007’s Hall of Fame class. A final press conference, featuring the May 2 talent, will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Grove Isle, followed by the event’s weigh-in at the hotel at 5 p.m. Campas, Oquendo and Norris will be available for one-on-one interviews after their arrivals in Miami on Monday.
