LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Was it the hype surrounding Edison Miranda being such a knockout artist? Could it be that scribes (this one included) are getting overly excited because Kelly Pavlik is white? Is Jermain Taylor “dead” at the 160 lb. weight limit? Or he is just “not” a showstopper? Does Jermain fight Pavlik? Does he pull a George Jefferson sans Weezie, meaning he’s “moving on up” and will fight Joe Calzaghe at 168?

ENTERTAINING MIRANDA BREATH OF HOT AIR!

The now twice beaten Colombian (28-2, 24 KOs) was able to get more than his share of media attention through a number of “angles.” By calling out Jermain Taylor, the pre-fight scoffing of Kelly Pavlik’s ability, and his breaking the still unbeaten Arthur Abraham’s jaw last year, this induced the boxing media to fall for Miranda because of his loud mouth and a good P.R. team at Warriors Boxing. Looking at tapes of Miranda pre-fight, I knew his defense was porous. The question going into this scrap was could Kelly Pavlik take a shot?
