News Flash: Segura vs. Reyes No Longer an Eliminator Bout!

By Juan C. Ayllon

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. - Jacob Hall, Chairman of the Indiana Boxing Commission informed us that the World Boxing Association is no longer sanctioning Giovanni Segura versus Daniel Reyes as a world title elimination bout. Segura and Reyes will be fighting in Gary, Indiana on Friday night.

"The W.B.A. is not sanctioning the bout as a light flyweight title eliminator," said Hall. He said that they were backing out "because someone was suing them over this being a title eliminator, rather than proceeding with the lawsuit." Thus, the length of their bout is to be dropped from 12 rounds to 10.

"Overall, it's (still) a good fight card," Hall said. In addition to Segura versus Reyes, he said, "You have three of the best middleweights in Indiana--Holmes, Loveless and Campbell--fighting."

Larry Harvey, an Indiana Boxing Commission inspector, was the official contacted by the W.B.A. in delivering this message.
