Press Release: Mike-Mike Oliver Open Workout for Upcoming Bout vs. Cruz Carvajal

PRESS CONFERENCE:

THIS Thursday, July 12, 2007, at the L.A. BOXING GYM located at 345 New London Turnpike in Glastonbury at 4:00 p.m. a Media Day-Open Workout will be conducted with world ranked super bantamweight contender Mike (Mike-Mike) Oliver in preparation for his upcoming ESPN main event on July 18 in Boston with fellow world ranked challenger (and former WBO bantamweight champion) Cruz Carvajal.

Oliver-Cruz will be a 12 round fight that will see the winner moved into the mandatory position in the IBF rankings. In other words the winner of this bout will be fighting in his next fight for the title against IBF Champion Steve Molitor of Toronto, Canada.

Note: Since Marlon Starling retired in 1990 the only Hartford-based boxers to challenger for world title have been John Scully (1996), Pito Cardona (1999) and Eric Harding (2000).

When: Thursday, July 12 at 4:00 P.M.

Where: L.A. Boxing, 345 new London Turnpike in Glastonbury

In attendance will be USBA 122 pound champ Mike Oliver, trainer "Iceman" John Scully, manager Marc Shaefer and promoter Richie Capiello.
