The heavy handed Gonzalez brings a record of 10-1-1 (9KO’s) into the fight against the Bronx native Teron who sports a record of 17-0-1 (11KO’s).
Speaking Monday from Chicago ’s O’Hare Airport while waiting to board his plane to New York City , Gonzalez said about the matchup, “He’s taller than I am so I’m going to have to get inside to offset his reach advantage. I’ll get to the body then work my way upstairs.”
About fighting for the first time in New York City , Gonzalez stated, “I lived in the Bronx many years ago, it will great to fight in front of the New York City fans.”
In regards to his previous bout against Robert Frankel, Gonzalez concluded, “Doesn’t matter what I think, the judges called it for him. But I’m back in business and I’ll be ready to crack on Wednesday night.”
Gonzalez is coming off a ten round war against Robert Frankel on June 21st at the San Miguel Casino in Highlands, California. Although the aggressor for the duration of the fight, the judges scored a split decision loss for the Bayamon, Puerto Rico native, now living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin .
Prior to his battle with Frankel, Gonzalez had stunned the crowd at the Par-A-Dice Casino in East Peoria , Illinois with a devastating fifth round knockout of Jaime Alvarez on April 7, 2007.
