Press Release - MSG, The Mecca Of Boxing, To Host First NY vs. NJ Garden Gloves Amateur Boxing Tournament A total of 15 action packed amateur boxing bouts, beginning at 8:00 p.m., are being promoted by Madison Square Garden in association with USA Boxing METRO. National Golden Gloves and United States National Champions will be featured throughout the night with several key matchups including 20-year old Pan Am Games Bronze medalist Lou Del Valle (Newburgh, NY) against nationally ranked Victor Valenzuela (Passaic, NJ) in a 125 lb matchup. Additionally, Mike Brooks (Oceanside, NY) takes on two-time national golden gloves champion, Jeremy Bryan (Clifton, NJ) in a rematch of their recent gold medal bout from the Mid-West trials in a 141 lb feature. The night also includes a 178 lb feature bout when 3-time New York Golden Gloves champion, Wil Rosinsky (Richmond, NY) takes on Chris “Angel” Conception (East Orange, NJ) and catch boxing at its earliest stages when 12-year olds Christian Chavez (NY) and Julian Rodriquez (NJ) are showcased in a Junior Bout. Tickets will be priced at $25.00 and $35.00 on the day of the show and can only be purchased at Aviator beginning at 6:00 p.m. Madison Square Garden maintains its strong dedication to boxing with the Garden Gloves amateur boxing event. Today’s announcement follows the recent sold-out Miguel Cotto vs. Zab Judah World Welterweight Championship held at the Garden and prior to the Maskaev vs. Peter Heavyweight Championship to be held on October 6 and the much-anticipated match up between Miguel Cotto and “Sugar” Shane Mosley on Saturday, November 10.
