Press Release - Robles Fractures Foot, Scratched from October 6 Diego Corrales Benefit Event

Undefeated Cruiserweight Suffers Second Injury of Year Forcing Withdrawal from Card

McLean, VA -- Undefeated cruiserweight Juan Carlos Robles (9-0, 4 KOs) of Waynesboro, Va., suffered his second injury of the year yesterday, fracturing his left foot and forcing him to withdraw as the headliner on the October 6, 2007 Diego Corrales Benefit hosted by Jimmy Lange.

The rising prospect, who was scheduled to fight William “The Storm” Bailey (7-12-2, 4 KOs) at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner, hurt his foot in a freak accident while stepping down wrong on a curb. Robles was sidelined this past spring by a motorcycle accident where he suffered multiple injuries including a broken forearm and a damaged knee. He had recovered from those injuries, although he lost his right pinky finger when he amputated the damaged digit by himself when it was not healing quick enough to his liking.

Matchmaker Joe Hensley has promised to find another great match-up for the evening’s Main Event and hopes to make an announcement in the immediate future.

Meanwhile, Hensley has solidified the undercard with "War Time" George Rivera (4-1, 2 KOs) leading the charge with a return to Northern Virginia after scoring an impressive win over undefeated prospect Lawrence Jones in Springfield this past August. The Charlottesville, Va.-native has won three in a row and will take on the always exciting John "JT" Terry (2-5, 1 KO) of Portsmouth, Va. in a four-round middleweight affair.

In other four-round action, "The Freak of Nature" Charles Norwood (2-1, 1 KO) of Roanoke by way of Washington, D.C. will tangle with Ron "The Rock" Reaves (2-0, 1 KO) of Baltimore in a middleweight contest and featherweight Angelo Ward of Baltimore will make his professional debut against James "Boo" Franks (2-3, 2 KOs) of Norfolk, Va.

The Jimmy Lange-hosted event benefiting the family of deceased former world champion Diego Corrales will be held Saturday, October 6, 2007 at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner. The event, a joint production between Jimmy Lange Enterprises and Ice Promotions, will feature professional boxing, live musical entertainment, a three-course meal and a silent auction. Table seat tickets seats (includes three-course dinner) cost $350, $250 or $175; with a limited number of general admission tickets selling for $100. To purchase tickets, call (703) 536-6060.
