Once a regular venue for professional boxing, the Caldwell Events center in Caldwell, Idaho has not hosted a fight in years. In fact the fight scene itself has laid idle in southern Idaho for some time now. Thankfully for fight fans that changes this upcoming Saturday October 27th as the sport makes its return to the area with a six bout card featuring some of southern Idaho's best.

The main event features the return of Caldwell's own, and one of Idaho's most promising prospects, undefeated Mario Hernandez (8-0 3KO's) in an eight round bout. Hernandez has spent the last year fighting in the state of Texas, taking on some of the toughest club fighters in that region. Most recently he scored a unanimous decision over tricky southpaw Anthony Vasquez. He is scheduled to take on fifteen year veteran Jorge Alberto Reyes.

Reyes has fought some of the games best including John Michael Johnson, Robert Frankel, Anthony Peterson, Antonio Davis and former world champions Johnny Gonzalez and Danny Romero. Reyes has a lot of experience against top tier opposition and should give Hernandez a good test.

Also on the card, Edgar Hernandez makes his return to the ring against always entertaining and always tough John Red Tomahawk in a six round Jr. Middleweight bout that promises to deliver fireworks. Hilario Lopez of Parma, Idaho will take on William Deets in a five round welterweight match-up. Miguel Albares and Jeremy Drapel will fight in a six round featherweight bout.

In a four round Jr. Middleweight bout amateur stand-out David Lopez, fresh off of an attempt at making the American '08 Olympic team in the Olympic trials, makes his pro debut against Jess Salway. Also making their pro debuts, Cristobal Garcia and Robert Quintana will fight in a four round welterweight bout.

The Caldwell Events center, formerly the O'Connor Field house, is located at 2207 Blaine Street, Caldwell, Idaho. The doors open at 6pm, first fight starts at 7pm. Tickets can be purchased in Caldwell, ID at the Fiesta Guadalajara Restaurant or Garcia's Tex-Mex Grill and in Napa, ID at El Centro. The event is being promoted by R&B Promotions, for more information call 208-440-1122 or 208-608-1910.
