A Champion's Other Battle

(11-10) 17:28 PST -- Less than two weeks before he won a championship fight in only 56 seconds, Robert Guerrero spent four nights on the floor of a hospital room. Nurses would bring him blankets and a pillow, and he'd lie there, trying to sleep. Most of the time, he failed.

His 23-year-old wife, Casey, had just been diagnosed with leukemia, and his mind was spinning. For the first three days, the IBF featherweight champ didn't think about defending his belt. He didn't even bother to train. Casey had to tell him to go ahead and fight, just as he had insisted a few days earlier that she had to go to the hospital.
