RIDGEFIELD, Wash. - After a two year layoff, former Jr. Middleweight contender Alex Bunema has made a successful comeback in 2007. On Saturday November 10th , Bunema (28-5-2 14KOs 158 lbs.) scored his second win in a two month span with a second round TKO victory over Hannibal, Missouri's Steven Walker (21-17 15KOs 158 lbs) at the Clark County Events Center in Ridgefield, Washington. The win was a good step forward for Bunema, although it came with a bit of controversy

The bout got off to a slow start with both fighters jabbing and moving cautiously around the ring, waiting for the other to open up. Bunema finally did so in the second round, stepping in with right hands behind his jab. A left hook to the chin put Walker on the seat of his trunks. Walker made it to his feet and, after taking a mandatory eight-count, tried to make it a fight, pressing forward, throwing wild shots. Bunema easily avoided his opponent's punches and took advantage of his aggression, landing with precise counter shots. A right hand pushed Walker back to the ropes. A double left hook dropped Walker once again. As Walker was on the canvas, Bunema fired off a right hand to the head. The referee stopped the clock and allowed Walker time to recover from the blow. Bunema was clearly apologetic as the foul seemed unintentional; nevertheless the referee deducted two points. After some time had passed the doctor was called in to the ring to ensure Walker could go on. The doctor gave the Ok for Walker to continue, but the Missouri native made it clear he no longer wanted to. Bunema was awarded a TKO at 2:49 of the second round.
