'Iron Horse' Powell Stops Cauthen, Looks Forward to 2008 Title Shot!

HOLLYWOOD, FL, December 6 – Junior middleweight contenders Sechew Powell and Terrance Cauthen promised a war in their IBF title elimination bout on Wednesday night at the Seminole Hard Rock Live Arena, and both fighters delivered on their promise. But when all was said and done, it was ‘The Iron Horse’ from Brooklyn, Powell, who had the last word, dropping Cauthen twice en route to a spectacular fourth round TKO win.
“I give Terrance Cauthen a lot of credit for being a man of his word and standing and fighting with me,” said Powell. “But I was not about to be denied of my title shot, and no one was going to stop me last night.”
With the victory, the 28-year old Powell improved to 22-1 with 13 KOs, and he now has his sights set on his 2008 shot at IBF junior middleweight champion Cory Spinks.
“Winning this fight over Terrance Cauthen was a great Christmas gift, and I’m going to celebrate 2008 by taking home my first world title,” said Powell. “Cory Spinks is a great fighter and I respect him a lot, but this is my time and all that respect will go out the window when the bell rings. I can’t wait to fight him.”
