EUMSEONG, South Korea, December 23 - Make no doubt about it: Kelsey Jeffries was victorious in Korea over rugged adversary Yun-Jung Jun. In doing so, Jeffries successfully defended her IFBA International Female Boxing Association featherweight title, which she won by unanimous decision over Layla McCarter on November 07, 2002.

It was a hard fight for Jeffries, as Jun was a great deal better than her record would indicate. She was tough and certainly had a chin on her.

The Ring was very " heavy " and combined with a straight ahead, persistent adversary, it made for a tough fight. The Koreans had done their homework and obviously had looked at film on Jeffries. They were prepared, but not quite enough.

Jeffries' constant movement and rapid fire combinations were too much over the long haul. She knew going in that she would have to be very busy and she was. Late In the fight, Jeffries wonover the Korean fans, and their support made it very difficult for the decision to be other than it was.

She won by unanimous decision over 10 rounds, bringing her record to 40-9-1 with 3 knockouts, while Jung slipped to 3-2-1. This was Jeffries' seventh defense of her title and her 40th win.

On this, her 50th fight, Kelsey left it all in the ring.
