On Sunday, March 9, White Lightning Promotions brings boxing to Shimmers in Ft. Wright, KY, and GoFightLive.tv's "World Fight Night" will be there, as well, to webcast all the action LIVE! In the 8 round co-feature main event Jeremy "Half Man-Half Amazing" Williams (42-5-1, 35 KO's), Season 1 and 2 star of The Contenders, takes on Dayton, Ohio spoiler, and hard-punching Paul Rocky Phillips (21-14, 19 KO's).
Williams, an all action, aggressive boxer is on his way to a big return as a cruiserweight. Williams is planning on entering the ring at Shimmers just on, or above the cruiserweight limit and take on the heavier, hard punching Rocky Phillips.
In the evening's other co-feature bout, the heavyweight action keeps on coming, as Joey "Minnesota Ice" Abell (18-1, 17 KO's) steps in the ring with Cincinnati, Ohio journeyman Dione Craig (4-12-1, 1 KO). Having been forced to the final bell in his last outing (A 10-Round unanimous decision win over then unbeaten Teke Oruh) Abell is itching to get back on the KO track. Craig will certainly test the punching power of Phillips, as the Ohio native has only been stopped once in his professional career, and that was at the heavy hands of John Poore (20-2, 18 KO's).
In a special undercard attraction, 2000 United States Olympian, Dante "Inferno" Craig (17-7-1, 13 KO's) returns to the ring to take on West Virginia super-middleweight journeyman, James North (8-19-2, 3 KO's). Craig, the younger brother of Dione, looks to resurrect his heavily touted professional career, after having been idle since suffering a knockout loss to the unbeaten, and heavy-handed, Michael Walker back in August, 2007.
Also slated for action, in a 4-round heavyweight bout, is the return of Billy Walker. The Newport/Ft Wright KY, KO artist returns to the ring after a 10-year layoff, to take on Science Hill, KY's Alex Medina. When he left the ring at 6-1 5 KO, Walker was known as a heavy hitter…10 years later Walker is aiming to prove that punching power is the last thing to go. Although 0-2-1, Medina has fought 3 fighters with an accumulative record of 68 rounds of boxing. Medina has not been off his feet, Walker needs to walk through Medina to prove his 42-year-old value and move on to his next step.
In other undercard action Kentucky fan-favorite, Corey "The Cobra" Phelps (11-3, 6 KO's) takes on 58-fight professional veteran Carlos "Psycho" Bates (31-26, 13 KO's), Oregon heavyweight Chris "The Hammer" Brammer (5-3, 4 KO's) vs. TBA, and Raleigh, North Carolina light middleweight, Rashad Holloway (7-1, 4 KO's) vs. TBA.
