Chicago Golden Glove Finals - Thursday April 17th

By Coach Rick Fornuto

CHICAGO--I am proud to announce Ms. Tiffany Perez - 119 lb - Open Division and Jessie Rubio - 132 lb - Open Division, of the Scottsdale Park Boxing Team will both compete in this years championship bouts on the above date at St. Andrews Gymnasium at Addison & Paulina.

As we did last year, we will have a bus leaving Angie's Pizzeria - 8352 S. Pulaski at exactly 6:00pm on Thursday April 17th, to arrive in time for the Gloves 7:30 start.

Bus ride and ticket to the 16 bout, all-championship show comes out to $25 each.If you prefer to drive yourself, I will also have general admission tickets for $20.

Tiffany Perez won last years Chicago tournament and was presented with the Chicago Golden Glove "Tough Guy" award which is given to the most exciting and action packed boxer of the entire tournament, male or female. She is scheduled to fight Kristin Peterson (a teacher from Hubbard H.S.) for this years 119 lb title. Tiffany also placed 3rd in the 2007 Female National Golden Gloves in Hollywood, FL. She beat reigning National Champion Christina Cruz from New York, before losing a close decision in the finals.

Jessie Rubio advances to this year's finals against professional Chicago boxer Luciano Perez's little brother, Noah. Jesse is attempting to accomplish something that is rarely ever done in Golden Glove history....winning an Open division title at the age of 16! Winners will advance to the National tournament in Grand Rapids Michigan in May.

If you are interested in attending, please e-mail, call or stop by Scottsdale (4637 W 83rd st. - Kolmar) to pick up your tickets - If you have never gone before, the Chicago Golden Gloves Finals ARE by far the most exciting boxing matches that you will ever attend or these boxers will participate in, try to make it and support our kids.
