Estrada & Godfrey special guests at A Wish Come True fundraiser
PROVIDENCE, RI – Providence boxing bookends, 2004 U.S. Olympian Jason “Big Six” Estrada and NABF cruiserweight Matt “Too Smooth” Godfrey, will be special guests of the A Wish Come True, Inc. dinner/dance fundraiser Friday night (April 25) at The Venus de Milo in Swansea, Massachusetts.
The Warwick (RI)-based A Wish Come True benefits children in all of Rhode Island and parts of southeastern Massachusetts who suffer life-threatening illnesses. Estrada and Godfrey, Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment and Sports, Inc. stablemates, will sign autographs and pose for pictures as part of an athlete meet-and-greet for the expected crowd of 1000.
There will be live and silent auctions including items like four sets of gloves individually signed by Estrada and Godfrey, as well as their CES stablemates “Awesome” Aaron Williams and Isander Beauchamp, plus fight programs signed by the four aforementioned boxers and another CES fighter, Providence super middleweight Joey “KO Kid” Spina.
Estrada (12-1, 2 KOs) is America’s top heavyweight prospect; Godfrey (16-1, 9 KOs) is already rated No. 7 by the World Boxing Council.
“This year’s fundraiser has an all-sports theme and we’re very happy that two up-and-coming boxing stars like Jason, a U.S. Olympian, and Matt are part of it,” A Wish Come True representative Joseph DaSilva said. “They are good role models that kids can look up to. I’ve watched them giving back to the community by working with kids at Jason’s gym (Big Six Academy in Providence).”
Other sports stars schedule to attend the April 25th fundraiser include former New England Patriots stars Steve Nelson and Roland James, along with ex-Red Sox players Bill Monbouquette, Russ Gibson and Brian Rose. Tickets are only $30.00 for adults. For more information or to purchase tickets call Joseph DaSilva at 774.526.3490.
