Youth Boxing Club Seeks Program Manager!

CHICAGO--The Chicago Youth Boxing Club is looking for a program manager. Below are the particulars:

Position: Program Manager

Reports to: Executive Director

Hours: Part-time (flexible 8-10 hours a week)

Rate: Based on experience but up to $15 an hour

Start date: May 15, 2008

Organization:

Established in 2001, the Chicago Youth Boxing Club (CYBC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the social, educational and physical well being of Chicago’s inner-city youth. CYBC encourages positive youth development through boxing. CYBC aims to instill the value of good sportsmanship, team unity, and self-respect. CYBC’s program is unique in that it focuses on offering positive alternatives for Chicago’s inner city youth and is not interested in manufacturing athletes.


Position:

The program manager is a new position for the CYBC. The program manager will provide oversight for CYBC’s programs including its drop-in programs, after-school program and summer camps. Main responsibilities include coordination of youth activities, partnership cultivation and development, processes implementation, intern management, administrative oversight and other duties as assigned. The program manager will also coordinate staff meetings and provide staff leadership and support to organizational projects.

The position hours are flexible but require some business hours (9am-5pm) and some evening and/or weekend hours.

CYBC intends that this position will increase in hours over the next 6months to become a 20 hour a week position.


Qualifications:

BA degree is preferred or training and experience equivalent

Must be available some nights and weekends

Must be familiar with Microsoft Office systems

Must be able to work in a team environment

Must be able to work in close proximity to others

Experience working in a non-profit preferred

Familiarity with the North and South Lawndale Community a plus

Experience working with youth a plus

Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred
