Tomasz Adamek Hits Chicago This Tuesday!
Numerous public appearances on tap for the 'Polish Warrior'

Press Release

CHICAGO, IL (JULY 7, 2008) In advance of his show down on Friday night against veteran brawler Gary Gomez at the Aragon Ballroom, #1 IBF mandatory cruiserweight contender and former light heavyweight world champion Tomasz Adamek will hit Chicago with a flurry of media activity leading up to the ESPN2 televised ten round main event.

Advance tickets to THE RETURN OF THE POLISH WARRIOR, presented by Kathy Duva’s Main Events and Dominic Pesoli’s 8 Count Productions can be obtained through Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com or 312-559-1212).

The Aragon Ballroom is located at 1106 W. Lawrence Ave., adjacent to the corner of Broadway and Lawrence. Doors for this event will open at 6:30pm with the first bell at 7:15pm.

In addition to numerous scheduled television and radio interviews leading up to this week’s fight, Adamek will kick off this week’s public appearances with an open workout at JABB Boxing Gym at 2pm on Tuesday, July 8th.

Adamek will be joined by “THE POLISH PRINCE” Andrzej Fonfara, the outstanding Chicago based middleweight prospect who is facing Derrick “SUPERMAN” Findley in the co-main event on Friday night, along with undefeated super middleweight Piotr Wilczewski and undefeated heavyweight Mariusz Wach, both of who will also be fighting on Friday night. JABB Boxing Gym is located at 410 N. Oakley in Chicago (312-733-5222).

At 12Noon on Wednesday afternoon, July 9th, the final press conference for THE RETURN OF THE POLISH WARRIOR will take place at FERAJNA’S POLISH RESTAURANT at 6714 W. Belmont Ave. on the northwest side of Chicago. Along with participants in the main event and co-main event, many members of the outstanding undercard will also be present for one on one interviews.

On Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 7:30pm, Adamek and Fonfara will host a meet and greet for Chicagoland fight fans at CENTRUM SPORT SOCCER USA sporting goods store located 5535 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago. (773-545-9777).

At 7pm, Thursday evening, July 10th, THE OAKS HOTEL AND CONFERENCE CENTER, 300 S. Frontage Rd. in Burr Ridge, will play host to the public weigh-in for Friday night’s fights. The weigh-in will be held in the Oak Ridge #3 Room on the First Floor.

Adamek has previously fought twice in Chicago, both times against Australian slugger Paul Briggs. On May 21, 2005, Adamek won the vacant World Boxing Council Light Heavyweight championship in an outstanding battle against Briggs at the United Center. The fight, a blood filled back and forth war of epic proportions, was voted the 2005 “Fight of the Year” by many boxing writers.

Adamek returned to Chicago the following year and defended the world title against Briggs on October 7, 2006 at the Allstate Arena, again in a classic battle that was listed very high on “Fight of the Year” lists for 2006.
