On August 19, 2008, Robert Ramos, the President of Chicago Youth Boxing Club (CYBC) was invited to the State of Guanajuato, Mexico by the Karen and Daniel May Foundation to visit for six days. The purpose of the trip was to have a delegation group from Chicago there to promote youth development in all aspects regarding education, nutrition and the Robert representing the CYBC was there to emphasize healthy lifestyles and physical excercise.

There are numerous seed projects going on throughout the state of Guanajuato Mexico, in order to begin slowing down the mass migration of youth to the United states, in order to seek jobs. The projects are aiming to positively develop these youth to educate them and assist then to create small enterprises that would economically help out their respective towns. On this trip the Chicago delegation passed out 12 laptops and 12 desktops donated by Accenture and Monex.

On a prior trip by the Mexican delegation back in June of this year, they delegates stopped by the CYBC boxing gym in the Little Village area for a site tour and purchased over twenty T-shirts as souvenirs. Much to Robert's suprprise, the youth in Tamaula were all wearing the Chicago youth Boxing Club official T-shirts!

Next year, there are future plans to further bridge the Chicago to Mexico gap by taking a few CYBC boxers and CYBC coach 'Chupi' to Tamaula to train the youth there for a week, after a small gym is established by the May Foundation.
