RENO, NEVADA, October 29, 2008 -- Super middleweight Joey Gilbert has landed in Baltimore, Maryland to return to the ring tomorrow night, October 30th against Michigan’s “FLAWLESS” Dan Wallace in a six round bout at the Jonathan Ogden Foundation Charity Boxing Event at Martin Valley Mansion in Cockeysville, MD.

The Gilbert/Wallace bout highlights a six bout card for the foundation which raises money to benefit inner-city schools in Baltimore.

Gilbert, 15-1 (11KO’s), is returning to the ring after a one year absence following his first round knockout win over Charles Howe last September which was later changed to a no-contest.

Said promoter Chet Koerner of TKO Boxing Promotions, “This is our plan for Joey leading up the fight with Brinkley. Joey’s in great shape and has been in serious training since September. We’d like to get him a few more fights before the big one with Brinkley in Reno early next year.”

The Season One Contender participant has been training diligently this year with a recently announced grudge match with cross-town rival Jesse Brinkley in Reno on the horizon.

“I’ve been in Big Bear training with Tito Ortiz and with Diego Sanchez in San Diego. Training has really amped up since mid-September and now I feel ‘more than ready’ for anything that comes my way. Although this bout came up on short notice, I’m in great shape and ready to roll.”

About fighting in Baltimore at the charity event, Gilbert said, “It’s a win-win situation. I get to fight and it’s a great opportunity to raise money for a most worthy cause.”

The 31 year old Wallace brings a record of 9-6 with three knockouts into the bout with Gilbert. “Honestly, I don’t know much about him, I’m just going to work on what I do best, feel him out in the first round and take it from there, said Gilbert.

In regards to his many fans in Reno and around the country, “I’m truly blessed with the support I’ve gotten from fans in my career. The last year has been tough and it’s nice to know the fans have stayed strong with me.”

The co-feature will be a four-round female junior lightweight bout between former amateur standout Katy Klinefelter of Iowa City , IA (1-0, one KO) and the debuting Jasica Rojo.
