WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Declaring and showing that he is “More Than Ready” for his February 14th grudge match with Joey Gilbert, Yerington’s Jesse Brinkley impressively took care of business on Saturday night with a third round stoppage of Shreveport’s James Johnson at the Burr Arena in Washington, D.C.

With a brutal body shot, Brinkley, 32-5 (22KO’s) earned the stoppage at the 1:54 mark of the third round. Using his potent left jab and power shots throughout the bout, Brinkley was consistently in control against Johnson who fell 23-31-3 (12KO’s).

“This was just what Jesse needed. He had a little rust from the six month layoff, but now he’s ready to get back into serious training for Gilbert”, said Brinkley promoter Terry Lane of “Let’s Get It On” Promotions.

Brinkley will now spend Christmas in Northern Nevada with his family before heading to Rhode Island to train with Peter Manfredo Jr. for the showdown with Gilbert.
