MERRILLVILLE, Ind., January 20 -- On Thursday, January 22nd at 6 p.m. Octavius James' One In A Million, Inc. will have its official weigh ins for the "SLUG FEST 2009" card at Langel's Pizza at 2833 Highway Avenue in Highland, Indiana at 6 PM.
This will give Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana fight fans an opportunity to meet all the fighters scheduled for this electric card, while the Miller Lite Girls will also be available for pictures and there will be plenty of chances to win some prizes throughout the night.
"If someone can't have fun on this night, then they just aren't capable of it," said owner of Langel's Pizza Rodney Langel of weigh in night.
"(Langel's Pizza) has been involved with Region boxing for over 20 years," added Langel. "So when Octavius & Team One In A Million came around, we knew that this was a first class promotion and together this has become special."
Jimmy "Fighting School Teacher" Holmes (17-1-2, 9 KOs) will square off against always game Tyrone Dowdy of Memphis, TN in the Main Event following a nearly year layoff due to surgery. NABC Lightweight World champion "Merciless" Mary McGee (15-0, 9 KOs) looks to stay unbeaten against rugged veteran Jessica Mohs (7-19, 2 KOs) in the Co-Main Event.
"Every time Langel's host our weigh ins, everybody has a great time, because Rodney (Langel) supplies such an amazing and entertaining environment," said Octavius James - C.E.O. of One In A Million, Inc. "We just wanted to put together a card that would start the New Year off with a bang." James said.
Also scheduled is the undefeated Ed Ochoa (6-0, 6 KOs) vs. Jess Salway (3-10), along with undefeated Josh Crouch (2-0, 2 KOs) vs. Yancy Cuellar. The "Pit bull" Jimmy Perez (3-1, 1 KO) vs. Nick Whiting, and unbeaten fighters square off as Orphius Waite (3-0, 2 KOs) takes on Chance Western (1-0) of Fargo, ND.
Marcus Thompkins (2-0) will also look to stay unbeaten against veteran Danny Schlienz (7-14, 4 KOs), while Angel Hernandez (10-2, 8 KOs) rounds out this sensational card.
