Arce Shows Tremendous Courage, But Should He have Endured So Much?

ANAHEIM - After blood screamed down his face and his eyes were badly swollen Saturday night, Jorge Arce put on a brave face for the press and his fans. But after taking a terrible thrashing from Vic Darchinyan, his body finally balked and he had to be taken to the hospital.

Frankly, I was surprised Arce could even walk out of the ring under his own power after such a thorough drubbing. Indeed, Anaheim EMT staff wanted to take him to the hospital immediately after the fight. But Arce insisted on making a statement at the post-fight press conference in the bowels of the Honda Center.
