Believe... Believe... Believe...
An Audio Interview with Jake LaMatta

NEW YORK (InsideBoxing.com - February 10, 2009) - Jake LaMotta was born Giacobe LaMotta on July 10, 1921 in the Bronx, New York and turned a professional boxer in 1941.

In 1942, LaMotta fought Sugar Ray Robinson, losing after 10 rounds by decision. The next year, they fought two more times, LaMotta won the first of the two contest and became the first person to beat the famous Sugar Ray Robinson. Robinson entered the ring with a record of 40-0, in this contest, LaMotta knocks Robinson through the ropes in the 8th round on his way to winning a unanimous decision. Three weeks later, Robinson avenged the defeat.
