Gallagher was a clever boxer and a hard hitter; He was a boxing instructor at the Los Angeles Athletic Club during the 1890s and worked with many fighters as manager, trainer and second in boxing contests

As a trainer and advisor, Billy was tops; He knew the "ins-and-outs" of the boxing game in the pre-1900 days and took the great Jim Jeffries under his wing during the early years of Jeffries' career

Data from the pre-1900 years is often difficult to locate and verify - and much data missing from Gallagher's career; Hopefully, more bouts will be discovered in time; Any modifications or additions are welcome
