Press Release
Philadelphia, PA - Samuel Peter 16-0 15 KO of Nigeria was scheduled to box former NABF Champion Robert Davis 28-6-1 15ko of Akron OH this Saturday at Madison Square Garden. The fight was on the undercard of the Klitschko/Johnson HBO fight. Yesterday, Wednesday, the fight was moved to The Legendary Blue Horizon, Peter was to receive $20,000 for the fight not bad right before Christmas. Late Wednesday the fight was announced to the media. Today, Thursday Peter arrived at Las Vegas airport to fly to Philadelphia it seems though he was not aware that the fight was moved and was so mad he refused to get on the plane canceling the fight. So there you have it the up again down again world of professional boxing.

Also on the undercard, David Hamilton of Philadelphia has pulled out of his 4 round Lt Heavyweight bout fearing Rocky Smith. Smith 5-2 5KO of Honolulu HI is handled by former lightweight legend Kenny Lane. Lane and Smith arrived in Philadelphia today. Lane who fought from 1953 to 1965 was one of the greats and he is no stranger to Philadelphia. Lane has fought 4 times in Philadelphia including a bout at the Legendary Blue Horizon. In 1960 Lane fought 3 times in Philadelphia winning over 10 rounds against Jerry Black and Lahouari Godih and scoring a 1st round ko over Sid Adams. In 1962 at the Blue, Lane scored a 9th round KO over Len Matthews. Lane fought twice for the title against Carlos Ortiz in NYC getting stopped in the 2nd in 1959 and losing over 15 rounds in 1964 in San Juan PR. As a side note Lane fought for Don Elbaum in 1964 when Lane beat Johnny Bizzarro over 10 rounds in Erie PA. Smith will box John Douglas 2-8-3 1ko of Guyana in a 6 round Lt. Heavyweight bout.
