Barrett Signs with DBE
Press Release

New York, NY -Heavyweight contender Monte Barrett has signed a promotional agreement with DiBella Entertainment, and will make his debut under the DBE banner against undefeated Dominick Guinn on Saturday night, March 27, 2004 on HBO Boxing After Dark, it was announced today by DBE president Lou DiBella.

Barrett (29-3, 16 KO's), fighting out of the borough of Queens in New York City, gave undefeated Joe Mesi everything he could handle on December 6 at Madison Square Garden in a close, heart-pounding performance that Barrett lost on the judges scorecards. Guinn is the Hot Springs, Arkansas native who has an unblemished record of 24-0, 17 by way of knockout.

DBE's Middleweight sensation Jermain Taylor (19-0, 14 KO's) vs. Alex Bunema (24-3-2, 12 KO's) headlines the card from Little Rock, Arkansas.

"We are thrilled to add a fighter of Monte Barrett's caliber to the DBE roster," said DiBella. "He is one of the top heavyweights boxing, and he can give anyone in the division a battle. His fight coming up against the unbeaten Dominick Guinn is a crossroads bout, and a victory would put him in a position for a big fight in the division."

"Dominick Guinn is a good fighter, but on March 27, he will be meeting a better fighter," said Barrett. "My speed, my power, and my experience will definitely add a loss to his resume."

Said Steve Nelson, Barrett's co-manager: "Team Barrett is excited about its new promotional agreement with Lou DiBella and our first fight under this agreement against Dominick Guinn on HBO. We promise an exciting fight with Monte being victorious at bout's end."
