New York Contenders To Be Back In Action In Coming Months

NEW YORK, February 20 - New York promoter Final Forum, Inc. is pleased toannounce the signing of junior lightweight Edelmiro "Tiger" Martinez andfeatherweight Emmanuel Lucero to its growing roster of quality fighters.

"We're delighted with our new acquisitions," said Final Forum President SalMusumeci. "Both "Tiger" and Emmanuel are on the fast track for worldchampionships, and they're itching to get back in the ring as soon aspossible."

Martinez, 35, has impressed boxing insiders over his 13-year career with hisslick style and ring savvy. 20-2-1 with 9 KOs, the Queens resident iscoming off a highly controversial draw with top contender Nate Campbell lastMay, a bout many ringsiders believed "Tiger" had won. Martinez, currentlythe mandatory USBA title challenger, is expected to be back in action inMay.

The 25-year-old Lucero (21-1-1, 12 KOs) is a throwback to the days whenfighters came to fight and left it all in the ring. A free-swinging puncherwho has never been in a bad fight, Lucero is a former WBC ContinentalAmericas super bantamweight champion, whose only loss was in a title fightagainst pound-for-pound superstar Manny Pacquaio. The Bronx-based Mexican, who is now campaigning as a featherweight, will headline a March 19 show atthe Olympic Theater in the Bronx against an opponent to be announcedshortly.
