Cooney honored at Gallagher's (NYC) Mar 16, F.I.S.T will benefit New York, NY - Former heavyweight star Gerry Cooney, boxing Hall of Fame trainer Gil Clancy, Madison Square Garden executive Frank Murphy, WFAN Radio personality Chris Carlin and longtime NBA public relations vice president Brian McIntyre will be among the honorees when Gallagher's Steak House presents "A Salute to Irish American Sportsmen," a benefit luncheon for the F.I.S.T. Foundation, on Tuesday afternoon, March 16, at 1:00 PM.
The luncheon is a pre-St. Patrick's Day gala open to the public, serving Irish Culinary fare - from Leek & Potato Soup to Corned Beef & Cabbage to Irish Lamb Stew - and the proceeds for the $50 a plate event will go to the Fighters Institute for Support and Training, a not-for-profit organization that provides medical, financial, psychological and vocational help to enable current and retired professional and amateur boxers and sparring partners make the transition from the ring to the real world. The former heavyweight contender Cooney founded F.I.S.T. - Fighters Institute for Support and Training in 1998.
