Hitz Boxing Presents Budweiser Championship Boxing
Wednesday, April 28th

Chicago, IL - Hitz Boxing is set to present three nights of live boxing beginning with an exciting installment of The Budweiser Championship Boxing series next Wednesday, April 28th from The Ramada Plaza O’Hare in Rosemont, IL. Featured fighters include Jermaine “Money” Marks, Joseph “The African Assassin” Awinongya, former Amateur World Champion and Russian standout Andrey Tsurkan, 6’6” Lamar Stephens and former Chicago Golden Gloves Super Heavy Champion Chris Riley.

Headling the Budweiser Championship Boxing event is Junior Welterweight Jermaine “Money” Marks (9-2, 6 KOs) who is looking to rebound from a hard fought 12-round loss in January to NABF and NABA Junior Welterweight Champion Terrence Cauthen. Marks faces Reggie Nash (8-8, 2 KOs) over 8 rounds.

Joseph “The African Assassin” Awinongya (11-7-4, 3 KOs) makes his Hitz Boxing debut in a 6-round Cruiserweight battle. Born in Ghana, the 6’ 3” Assassin made his debut in Italy and fought numerous times in the Netherlands before arriving in the US. In July of last year, The Assassin faced his toughest opponent in Ezra Sellers. Sellers, regarded by many as the hardest puncher in the Cruiserweight division, would win the 8-rounder by decision.

Born and raised in Russia, Andrey Tsurkan (19-2, 12 KOs) makes his Chicagoland boxing debut in a 6-round Junior Middleweight bout. A former Amateur World Champion,Tsurkan was most recently seen on Showtime where he dropped a hard-fought 10-round decision to highly touted Uzbeki Kuvanych Toygonbayev.

Cruiserweight Chris Riley’s gutsy performance in his pro debut last month in Rosemont earned him plenty of attention. Hitz Boxing fans are looking forward to seeing the former Chicago Golden Gloves Super Heavyweight Champ in his next 4-round bout.

Other boxers ready to go are 6’6” power punching Lamar “Big T” Stephens (2-0, 2 KOS) in a 4-round Heavyweight bout and Atlanta’s Chris “The Natural” Troup (4-1, 2 KOs) in a 4-round Middleweight bout.

The Budweiser Championship Boxing series is the first event of Hitz Boxing’s “Triple Crown.” The action continues just two days later on Friday, April 30th when Mexican super star Goyo Vargas headlines the first edition of “Boxeo Chicago” from Elgin. One week later, Hitz Boxing presents The Rockford Rumble from Rockford Motor Speedway.

In addition, Chicagoland’s premier promoter, Hitz Boxing in association with Banner Promotions, have just announced that they will present ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights live from The Belvedere in suburban Elk Grove Village on May 21st. Details to follow shortly.
