Teddy Reid to Face Kermit Cintron for Interim WBO Welterweight Title Teddy Reid, 22-5-1, with 16 knockouts, of Adelphi, Maryland, will fight Kermit Cintron, 23-0, with 21 knockouts, of Reading, Pennsylvania, for the interim World Boxing Organization welterweight world title on July 17 in Houston. The scheduled 12-rounder is one of three fights that will be televised on HBO's "Boxing After Dark."
Art Pelullo, who promotes Reid, said today, "These are two of the most exciting fighters in the welterweight division. Both are tremendous punchers, and it should be a great fight. Teddy is a nine-year veteran who has been in wars with some of the toughest guys out there, and Kermit is a sensational young kid who has made quite a name for himself in a short time. I think they have both earned this shot at the world title." The Reid-Cintron fight is being co-promoted by Banner Promotions and Main Events.
